Taking control of the middle at the net, Vaysburg led the Tigers defensively as she posted 74 blocks to lead the team. In 28 matches, Vaysburg was a steady force, tallying at least one block in every match she played while posting a season-best six against Saint Mary's on Sept. 13. Offensively, Masha had her best season in the Orange and Black as she put down a career-best 116 kills in 250 swings, posting a team-high .312 hitting percentage.<br /><strong><br />2007 (Sophomore):</strong><br />In her second season with the Tigers, Masha continued to improve the middle blocking position, finishing the season with 66 kills and a team-leading .336 hitting percentage. The highlight of Vaysburg's season came in the Tigers' final tournament as she combined for 16 kills and just three errors on 30 attempts to lead Pacific to the 29th Annual Community Bankers Classic Championship. Following the tournament, Vaysburg was one of three Tigers named to the all-tournament team. Masha's best single performance came on Nov. 23 as she recorded a season-high nine kills and committed just one error on 13 attempts for a .615 hitting percentage.<br /><br /><strong>2006 (Freshman):</strong><br />Masha provided a defensive force for the Tigers in the middle during her first season at Pacific. Vaysburg led Pacific with 98 blocks on the season and posted a team-high 1.04 blocks per game. Masha saw the floor in all 29 of Pacific's matches in 2006, delivering 113 kills, 84 block assists and 35 digs. Vaysburg closed out her freshman campaign with 10 blocks in the 28th Annual Bankers Classic, including eight total blocks in the Tigers' 3-1 loss to Portland State on Nov. 24. Masha delivered a career-high nine kills on 17 attempts to help lift the Tigers to a 3-2 win over UC Davis on Nov. 2. Earlier in the season, Vaysburg forced the Aggies to alter their approach at the net as she recorded career bests with seven block assists and 10 total blocks in the Tigers' 3-2 win over the Aggies on Oct. 5. In the Tigers' 3-1 win over Yale on Sept.15, Vaysburg delivered seven kills and did not record an error in 14 attempts. Masha continued her stellar play in the Tigers' 3-0 loss to Sacramento State on Sept. 12 as she finished the match with a career high of four digs and five block assists. Vaysburg had her first breakout match for the Tigers on Sept. 8 as she recorded six kills, one assist and three solo blocks in the Tigers' 3-1 loss to Marquette. Masha recorded her first block in the Tigers' loss to No. 25 Kansas State on Aug. 27.<br /><br /><strong>High School/Club:</strong><br />Vaysburg graduated from Granada High School in Livermore, Calif., in 2006. Masha was a two-time All-East Bay Athletic League First Team selection. As a senior for the Matadors, Masha averaged 15 kills and five blocks a match. Following the 2005 season, she was named the team MVP. Vaysburg earned the team MVP honor following her junior season.<br /><br /><strong>Personal:</strong><br />Marya "Masha" Vaysburg is the daughter of Dimitry and Anna Vaysburg. She has one sibling, Gita. Both of Vaysburg's parents represented the former Soviet Union in international athletic competitions. Her mother was a swimmer while her father was a wrestler. In her fourth season at Pacific, Masha is majoring in biological science with the intent of becoming a dentist.<br /><br /><strong>Johnson On Vaysburg:</strong><br />"Masha has been improving every year and her energy on the floor is contagious.
